Notification for ICCR-General Scholarship Scheme for the Academic Year 2020-21

Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) will be awarding scholarships for meritorious Iranian students interested in pursuing higher studies in India under its General Scholarship Scheme (GSS) for the academic year 2020-21. The scholarship covers undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD studies in India in various fields spanning arts, science and technical fields (except Medical/ Paramedical/ Fashion courses).

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

This is to inform the interested applicants that all admission process will be done online. Interested applicants are requested to visit the website given below and register themselves-

Applicants are requested to read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on the website and familiarize themselves with the admission process, including, the list of Universities.

All students selected for the scholarship will have to stay inside Hostels, wherever available, for at least first year of the study. No exception will be made on family or health grounds.

Only students who are 18 years of age by June 2020 or above, should apply. Underage applicants are liable for rejection.

The applicants should have proficiency in English language. To determine the proficiency of the candidate in English language, an English Proficiency Exam will be conducted by the Embassy of India on 30 January, 2020 (Thursday). This exam is compulsory.

Time: 1130-1300 Hrs

Venue: Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Embassy of India, Mir Emad Street, (Peymani) 11th Alley, Building 7, Dr. Beheshti Avenue, Tehran.

Applicants are compulsorily required to bring Photo-Identity Cards to the examination.

Applicants may note that qualifying the English Proficiency Exam does not guarantee admission to the Universities under ICCR scholarship. Admission is decided by the Universities on the basis of the applicant’s credentials (including English proficiency) and as per their own eligibility criteria.

Applicants are advised to exercise due diligence and research on the specific admission criteria laid down by various universities for each subject and ensure that they submit relevant document(s) as required by the Universities in addition to the basic certificates mentioned in the application form. For this, applicants can refer to the University Grants Commission’s website (https://www.ugc.ac.in/) and the concerned institute’s website for eligibility criteria.

Applicants for Engineering (BE/B-Tech) courses, should ensure that they have taken Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics in their high school examinations, as it is mandatory. Applicants applying for engineering courses should ensure that they are not more than 30 years age at the time of admission in Indian Universities/Institutes.

ICCR does not provide scholarship for Medical/paramedical (Nursing/Physiotherapy/Anesthesia etc.), fashion courses. For science courses, the expenditure on laboratory chemicals and other related incidental charges will be borne by the scholars themselves.
