Republic Day of India celebrated in Tehran

The 68th anniversary of Republic Day of India was celebrated by the Embassy of India in Tehran on 26 January, 2018. Ambassador Shri Saurabh Kumar hoisted the national flag and read out the address to the nation by the Hon’ble President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind on the eve of the Republic Day.

The function was attended by more than three hundred people including members of Indian diaspora, Indian expatriates’ community, teachers and students of the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Indian students studying in universities in Qom and in University of Tehran, members of the Indian Mission. 

The students of the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tehran sang the national anthem. A cultural programme of performing patriotic songs by the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya and family member of an officer of the Mission on the occasion was followed by the light refreshment to all. Video clips of Pravasi Bhartiya Divas celebration in Singapore and the 1st PIO-Parliamentarian Conference at New Delhi were also shown to the members of the Indian Diaspora during the Republic Day function. In the evening Ambassador hosted a reception for the Diplomatic core in Iran and the Iranian guests to mark the occasion. Deputy Minister Mr Seyyed Abbas Araghchi of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, former Chairman of the Parliament Dr Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel and the former Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Manouchehr Mottaki were among the lranian dignitaries.
