1. H.E. Mr. Murli Deora, Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas paid an official visit to Tehran on 25-26 April 2007.  The delegation included Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and other officials.  The delegation also included Chairman of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Chairman & Managing Director of Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Chairman & Managing Director of Gas Authority of India Limited and Chairman & Managing Director of Engineers India Limited.

2. During the visit, Mr. Murli Deora met with the Iranian Minister of Oil, H.E. Mr. Vajari Hamaneh and the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Manouchehr Mottaki.  Mr. Murli Deora also called on President of Iran, H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

3. During the meetings, the two sides reiterated their commitment to further enhancing their cooperation in the field of energy including oil & gas.  The Indian Minister gave details of the energy requirements of India and stated that cooperation with Iran in the field of energy was in the strategic interest of India.
